The Recycle Right Coalition is dedicated to advocating for inclusive policies in the solid waste and recycling industry that unlock California’s enormous potential to meet its waste diversion and climate change goals. Our policy principles are designed to guide our advocacy efforts and decision-making processes, ensuring a sustainable and equitable future for California.
We believe in the following principles:
Modernize Solid Waste & Recycling Governance
Existing laws and regulations governing waste and recycling have gaps and conflicting language. This hinders innovation and creates uncertainty for businesses, municipalities and regulators. We advocate for updates and clarifications that build on the strengths of the current system and address existing shortfalls by providing operating certainty, eliminating unnecessary regulatory burdens, and fostering innovation to drive competition in the market, prioritize waste diversion and create a level playing field.
Promote Public Engagement & Transparency
We advocate for policies that improve public engagement and transparency about productive uses for materials before they become waste. We support efforts that empower the public to identify and participate in services and solutions that help achieve their waste and greenhouse gas reduction goals.
Integrate Technology
and Innovation
We believe in integrating technology and innovation into solid waste and recycling material management policies. This includes embracing recycling advancements in data analytics, collection and processing that optimize waste diversion, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote circular economy practices.
